Object Coloring

So there I was, going through site after site, trying to find the perfect, most helpful tutorial on object recoloring for Sims 2. Being a designer for the Sims 2, I had plenty of walls, floors, clothes, paintings, and houses to offer, but no objects!! Every avid sim fan knows the more objects the better!!!! But could I master this technique?? It still remained to be seen.

I could make all the other stuff, and I could make objects, paths, and signs for RCT2, why was it so difficult to recolor Sims 2 items???!! I spent hours upon hours lurking through forums, message boards, sites, and more sites. Reading tips, hints, tutorials, and still, nothing.

Everyone kept talking about this Sim Wizard in SimPE. I had SimPE, where was MY Wizard? I had object workshop in SimPE, couldn't figure THAT one out, but no Wizard. Frustrated to the point of tossing my computer out the window, I uninstalled, reinstalled several times.

I think my Wizard has invisible powers. He's not in file, tools, extra, plugins, or help. OH MAGIC SIM WIZARD, BESTOW ME WITH YOUR MAGICAL RECOLORING POWERS!!!!

Then, one day, I was going through my programs in my computer (Duh, me!) and lo and behold! There was SimWizard! THE SIM WIZARD EXTRORDINAIRE! Sitting right there, neatly tucked away in my SimPE files!!! Why on EARTH didn't I look there before! D'OH! Even Homer Simpson would be shaking his head!!! Ok, so I found it, great great, NOW what do I do???

Well, first off, you need these items......

You need a paint program. I used the regular paint that comes with windows, but any will do. Most people recommend Paint Shop. You can get a free trial here (it is indeed a very good program) paintshop

Next, if you haven't downloaded SimPE, do so now. Here is a link: simPE I would suggest getting the CEP (Colour Options Enabler) and SimPE Photostudio Templates, and download them as well. CEP is needed so that you can see different colors in your game. If you don't have this, you won't be able to see certain colors.

Now that everything is downloaded, find your wizards of simPE. You will find it either under FILE in SimPE, or in your SimPE folder on your computer. Start it up!

Ok, now it says, Please select the task you want to preform (How Polite! Lovely) Click on Recolors. Please wait while SimPE loads up. It may take awhile, depending on the amount of downloads you have stored away. If you have as many as I do, it might take awhile.

Now, we are going to select an item to recolor. This picture, will show you what your Wizard screen should look like.

Today, we'll scroll down and do "Satanistics Loveseat". Click on that and hit next. I suggest making yourself a folder on your computer (where you feel most comfortable), to export your recolor file to. I put mine in Desktop and named it recolor. (How originial, eh?)
Now that you've clicked on the loveseat you should see this:
